The mission of Iowa Task Force-1 (IA-TF1) is to provide the citizens of Iowa with a highly trained and well equipped USAR team to be used for statewide emergencies. The team will be capable of responding to terrorist incidents, structural collapses caused by earthquakes, tornados, grain elevator explosions as well as aircraft accidents, floods and other natural or man made disasters. The team will be able to respond and serve the people of Iowa much quicker than a Federal USAR team.
IA-TF1 has teamed up with Texas Task Force-1 (TX-TF1), a FEMA certified USAR asset, to gain valuable technical training and experience from a team that has been around for more than thirteen years.
